GlobalFoundries Continues Presenting Sponsorship of FIRST LEGO League in Vermont for 2025-2026 Season

GF to host the state championship event at its Essex Junction facility for the second consecutive year

Essex Junction, Vt., Dec. 29, 2025 –GlobalFoundries (Nasdaq: GFS) is proud to reaffirm its role as the presenting sponsor of the FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) program in Vermont for the 2025–2026 season. This ongoing partnership reflects GF’s deep commitment to community engagement, advancing K–12 STEM education and fostering future workforce development. For the second year in a row, GF will host the FLL Vermont State Championship at its Essex Junction facility on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026, supported by dedicated GF volunteers, underscoring the company’s strong ties to the local community.

This renewed sponsorship reinforces GF’s longstanding relationship with the FIRST organization in Vermont, where GF employees actively mentored FIRST teams across local communities, contributing more than 2,500 volunteer hours last year. By continuing as the FLL Presenting Sponsor, GF affirms its commitment to cultivating a vibrant STEM ecosystem and inspiring the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers.

“We are excited to continue our role as the presenting sponsor for FIRST LEGO League in Vermont for the 2025-2026 season,” said Ken McAvey, senior vice president and general manager of Vermont Operations and Global Facilities at GF. “Year after year, our employees invest their time and expertise as mentors and volunteers, helping students ignite their passion for STEM. Last year, we proudly welcomed more than 800 students, coaches, parents, community members, volunteers and STEM enthusiasts to our site for the state championship. Hosting this event for the second consecutive year is a testament to our unwavering commitment. Supporting FIRST is an investment in the future semiconductor workforce, and we’re excited to once again empower students to pursue careers in technology and innovation, where they can help us shape what’s essential.”

FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Challenge, which serves students in grades 4-8 throughout Vermont, has seen significant growth. In the 2024-2025 season, Vermont hosted 60 FLL Challenge teams statewide, and projections for the current season estimate over 74 teams. This growth is made possible through the collaboration between GF and FIRST in Vermont. FIRSTinVT is a non-profit organization dedicated to establishing and enhancing FIRST teams at all program levels by building sustainable relationships between teams and community partners.

“GF’s renewed sponsorship opens the door for even more Vermont students to participate in the FIRST LEGO League program and develop skills that will last a lifetime,” said Joseph Chase, Vermont FLL program delivery partner. “Together, we’re broadening access and deepening the impact of STEM education across our state. We’re excited to host the championship event at GF for the second year in a row and can’t wait to see the incredible achievements of those students. This partnership is about building a strong foundation for the leaders and innovators of tomorrow.”

GF’s Essex Junction facility, located near Burlington, is a cornerstone of American semiconductor manufacturing and home to approximately 1,800 employees. GF-made chips produced here support a wide range of applications, from smartphones and automobiles to communications infrastructure worldwide.
